Overview

Name | Version: DJ Roller 001
Author: davidbirdwell42
Device Type: MIDI Effect
Description: I finally recreated one of my favourite hardware functions of the Arturia Beat Step Pro - the Roller strip usually used for for drums + DJ FX. I wasn’t able to find a software version so I decided to make one myself!

You can sync the rhythm to the Tempo, or adjust it yourself in ms. I added there choice to the mod wheel for a more realistic feel. On the BSP, it only goes from 1/4 to 1/32, so I extended the range on the strip 1 further in either direction - 1/2 to 1/64. The pull down menus allow a much further range of Tempo synced rhythms.

Adjust the resolution of the speed dial for wild high pitched FX to create your own sounds, or make the space between each beat really wide for an occasional hit. While this device was created as an extension for our DJ Hot Cues device, https://spookyinc.gumroad.com/l/djhotcues, it works with any Midi instrument (and even passes through the ModWheel signal). For a hands off continuous repeating - or drone FX - we included a Latch. Almost everything is Mappable or controlled by Automation, and we even included a bypass button.

Last of all, to continue with our easy to use and visually focused MaxforLive devices, we included a ring that blinks with every beat so you can watch the beats being played - and it’s always int he colour of the current track it’s loaded on to keep things easy and organized!

We try to make all our devices look good together. The bottom bar has the familiar reset button, Mod Wheel activation switch, Mod Wheel position graphic and we even included a counter for the length you hold down a key.

As always, thanks for the interest and support and let me know what you do with yours!
